The Humanist Center of Cultures announces its fall Open House and Collection Drive to be held Sunday, November 9, from 6-8 pm. at the SEIU Building Service Local 32BJ located at 101 Avenue of the Americas (between Grand and Watts Streets). The evening will include a special presentation on our Human Support Campaign, which addresses concrete issues in the areas of Health, Education and Quality of Life in Bangladesh and Mozambique.
We invite people to bring/donate medical materials for our all-volunteer Health projects in several cities and towns of Bangladesh and Mozambique. The current batch of gifts will be brought to Bangladesh the following week (Nov. 11) and distributed directly to volunteers opening up free health clinics in 4 new neighborhoods of Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh.
There is an especially serious need for the following items:
The Human Support Campaign is based on reciprocity, where we help improve the daily living conditions in Bangladesh and Mozambique, while learning the value of friendship, sharing and solidarity from them. We are currently looking for volunteers who want to help organize these campaigns here in New York.
Everyone is welcome and the event is free to all.
Says director Nicole Myers: "Simply put, these campaigns are an opportunity for people to make a contribution at a global level. It is for people who want to do something positive to help others, and who recognize that volunteering makes them feel good."
The Humanist Center of Cultures is a non-profit organization launched in 1996.
